Write for us
We welcome proposals for thoughtful, original writing about food culture: the details, practices and meanings that reward a closer look. A strong pitch is specific enough to imagine as a finished piece and broad enough to interest readers beyond its writer.
Ideas that fit
We are interested in food as sensory experience, creative practice, tradition and a reason people gather. A useful proposal might follow one clear question, compare distinct approaches, explain a custom in context or draw out the history behind a familiar gesture. We are less interested in general claims or ideas that depend on telling readers what they should eat.
What to send
Use the Contact page to send a short summary of the proposed piece, its central idea, why it matters to our readers and how you would approach it. Include relevant experience or links to previous work if you wish, but do not send a full draft unless requested. Please mention any relevant affiliations or interests.
Before you pitch
Proposals should be original, clearly framed and supported by a realistic plan for checking factual claims. Explain what makes the piece distinct from a general overview and avoid pitches that rely on invented personal experience or unsupported health claims. Sending a proposal does not guarantee publication.
Food culture lives in the details
A scent from the pan, a familiar way of serving, a dish made for sharing: these details tell us how food connects with memory, place and company.
